Alltid Valhalla Cup Finale
sitiawan | 22.05.09

It was a Tuesday night. It was raining. Under the shine of the fog lights, the finals of the Alltid Valhalla Cup had begun. Fortunate Bastards, two times losing finalist in the previous Alltid Plus Cups, look to set this one right after defeating Halifax Town in the semi-finals, the same side that beat them to the Plus Cup last time. Naoned Uber Alles, the single non-Dutch team in the semis, defied the odds and another all-Dutch final by defeating FC De Rompestompers confidently despite being tagged as underdogs. The French team had struggled to win their first round match but later picked themselves up and ran a good show all the way to the finals.
Zacharias van Rijt opened the scoring for Bastards with a goal from the left to the delight of the fans, who held their breath long enough to watch him break past the defenders running awkwardly in the mud. 1-0 for Fortunate Bastards. Anti Pulver added a second goal for Bastards in the 40th minute before Jerome Bodaan put his side away with another one four minute after with a brilliant header. The goals just can’t stop coming in after the second half whistle as Zacharias van Rijt got himself a hattrick with two more goals in the 48 and 57 minutes, clearly impressive from a player who looked to have been suffering from the rain early into the match. At this moment, the crowd’s cheers were followed by singing and dancing and a few worked-up Naoned supporters were seen leaving the stadium. Gosse Kok completed the route for Bastards with a sixth goal in the 61st minute. An incredible performance, a 6-0 victory, and Fortunate Bastards emerge the winners of the Alltid Valhalla Cup, final edition of the Alltid Cup saga.
The Alltid Cups started as a humble 64-team Alltid Cup meant for non-supporters to win a Supportership, later evolving into a mammoth 2048-team Alltid World Cup in its fifth edition, along the way changing a total of four names. The Supporters Cup was first introduced in the second season as an elite version for Supporters of the Alltid community (later called Plus members), with Niflheims Vikinger the only team to have won both the non-supporter’s and supporter’s variant of the cup. Over the years, people flock in to play the cups, interacting with the warm community and enjoying Alltid’s trademark statistics. For some, playing in the non-supporter’s cup and trying to win a Supporter package was one thing they look up to every season. Gloom befalled the legacy of the Alltid Cups in September 2008 when news of Alltid’s integration into Hattrick was announced. It was joy and achievement nonetheless. After the hiatus of a season, the Valhalla Cup was created, a Viking burial in the name of Alltid. The spirit of Alltid may have weakened but it will never be gone.
While the coach of Naoned Uber Alles may have curse himself for trying a pressing tactic, or pretty much all the aspects he could have bettered, numerous others along the sidelines look up as the graffiti falls and picture themselves holding aloft the Valhalla Cup trophy. No more. No more. The name of the victors of the Alltid Cups will be engraved in wood and the final one is now in place – Fortunate Bastards.
The Alltid Cups, the one, the only. May Alltid Hattrick live forever!
